Away From All Pretense

|
I had me three drops of blood,
Away from all pretense,
I had me strength, security and honor,
Away from all pretense,
I had me trust, respect and loyalty,
Away from all pretense,
It all shattered in a moment's time,
And now i drown in this wretched pretense.

I had me brothers in arms,
Away from all pretense,
I shared with them chasms of blood,
Away from all pretense,
One of us valued his life so little,
And now we rust away separately,
Buried deep into this world's pretense.

We've had to learn this new pretense,
From our pride washed away clean,
Thus now dwelling within the pretense of pretense,
Hoping i could once again be,
Away from this infernal pretense.
